About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Java Developer to join a high-impact project for our client in Walnut Creek, CA. This contract position focuses on modernizing software development practices by integrating AI-assisted tools into a robust Java-based microservices architecture.
What You'll Do
- Design and implement scalable backend services using Core Java, Spring Boot, and Hibernate.
- Integrate and utilize AI development tools like GitHub Copilot or Microsoft Copilot to optimize coding workflows.
- Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices architectures.
- Manage and optimize relational databases including MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Oracle.
- Containerize applications using Docker and orchestrate deployments with Kubernetes.
- Collaborate with the engineering team to deploy and monitor services within the AWS Cloud ecosystem.
What We're Looking For
- Extensive professional experience with Core Java and Java EE/J2EE frameworks.
- Proven track record of building microservices with Spring Boot and managing data with Hibernate.
- Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools (Copilot).
- Strong understanding of cloud-native development specifically within AWS.
- Proficiency with DevOps tools including Maven, Gradle, Git, Docker, and Kubernetes.
- Must be local to California and available for a hybrid/onsite schedule in Walnut Creek.
Nice to Have
- Experience with AI prompt engineering specifically for software engineering tasks.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipeline implementation and automation.
- Previous experience working in large-scale enterprise environments with high-traffic applications.
